Cleaning your ID Card Printer

ID card printers are an investment that your business or company makes.  So how do we maintain them to ensure that they continue to provide us with the highest quality printing?
Most all ID card printer manufacturers’ recommend cleaning the print heads each and every time that you change your ribbons.  This removes any dust or debris which may be present on the print heads.  Some manufacturers provide cleaning cards with each new ribbon.  These cleaning cards can be run through your printer prior to installing your new ribbon.  This takes only a few minutes to do.  Additional cleaning kits can also be purchased which contain cleaning cards, cleaning swabs or a cleaning pen to clean the print heads.  All ID card printer manufacturers recommend that you purchase only the cleaning kits made for your brand of printer to ensure that your printer is cleaned appropriately and continues to provide you with the utmost in quality printing.
Absolute Access carries a full line of cleaning kits available for your card printer.  Please contact us today if you have any questions about which cleaning kit is best for you or about caring for your ID card printer. Call us at 865-771-9697 or visit us on line at https://absoluteaccessid.com

What are Proximity or Prox Cards?

Proximity Cards or prox cards as they are often called are growing in demand with today's tighter security for businesses, schools and organizations.
The proximity card is used as an ID badge for employees, students, hospital staff and government agencies.  The individual's picture can be taken and placed on the front side of the badge along with their name and/or department name.  Sometimes the company or organization will also elect to have their logo placed on the badge as well.
These prox cards allow access to certain doors, gates or specified locations within a business.  The cards are held up to a card reader which in turn reads the information encoded onto the card and deciphers it. The user will usually hear a beep or other sound to indicate that the card was read. Some proximity cards contain an additional magnetic stripe which can also be read by swiping it through a reader much like a credit card.  The magnetic stripe can also contain additional information such as bank funds, cafeteria funds, bookstore funds etc.
Most often, the term proximity card refers to a 125kHz card or device.  The newer "smart card" technology consist of credentials which are a 13.56MHz contactless smart card.  The most common read format is the Wiegand 26 bit format however with newer demands the bit size has also increased to continue to provide unique number variations.  Often times, the first several bits can be made identical which is referred to as the facility code or site code.
There are various manufacturer brands who offer proximity cards.  Some of the most common are HID, Xceed ID, AWID, Identiv and Farpointe.  If you need help in deciding what options are best for you or which proximity cards will work with your present readers, please contact one of our sales associates at 865 771-9697 or at https://absoluteaccessid.com and we will be glad to assist you.

Break Away Lanyards Increase Safety

Break-Away Lanyards are a very important safety feature.

When it comes to choosing your lanyards, there is a vast array of options available however; the break-away option should be the most important.  The break-away feature increases safety for the

The break-away is a safety feature which will release under pressure to prevent injury to the wearer.  Should the lanyard get caught in machinery or equipment, the safety break-away will snap open preventing choking risk. These safety lanyards are also ideal to prevent injury to students who are required to wear them at school.  Furthermore, these lanyards can be snapped around the neck, instead of pulled over the head which may be beneficial for employees who are required to wear any type of head gear or hardhats for their work environment.

Absolute Access, an Identification and Security Badging Supply Company in Knoxville, Tennessee is growing!

Absolute Access was started in January of 2012 with a passion to provide local businesses with cost effective ID credentials.  The owner, Jolene Johnson, in her previous experience as a commercial real estate agent was displeased by the high markup placed upon these necessary security items and it quickly became her passion and desire to provide the same quality products but at a much more reasonable price.  She was also determined to treat each of her clients with the utmost in customer service and communication after the sale.  Absolute Access initially started with only a couple of employees but through their hard work and the loyalty of their local customers, the company saw a great first year in 2012.  Absolute Access has continued to expand and has now grown to a national level wherein they are able to be of service to customers across the entire USA.
